Scanloft

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 20 August 2026

In short

Scanloft collects no data about you. Your scans, the recognised text and the PDFs made from them stay on your iPhone — and, if you turn on iCloud, in your own iCloud. The developer has access to none of it. There is no user account, no analytics, no advertising and no third-party SDKs.

Controller

What happens on your device

Every step runs offline on the iPhone:

iCloud (optional, off by default)

In settings you can move the library from “On My iPhone” to iCloud Drive. Your PDFs then live in your iCloud account and are synchronised by Apple between your devices. Apple is the controller for that processing under the terms of your iCloud account, not the developer of Scanloft; there, too, the developer has no access. See Apple’s Privacy Policy.

Turn iCloud off again and the library moves back onto the device.

What does not happen

If you write to us

The feedback link in settings opens your mail app with a prepared subject line. If you write to us, we process your email address and the content of your message in order to answer it (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, legitimate interest in responding to enquiries). Messages are deleted once they are dealt with and no statutory retention periods apply.

External links

The app and this website link to the App Store and to buymeacoffee.com/focusislandlaps. Processing on those sites is governed by their own privacy policies.

This website

This site sets no cookies and embeds no analytics tools and no fonts from third-party servers. It is hosted on GitHub Pages, a service of GitHub, Inc., 88 Colin P. Kelly Jr. Street, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA. When you visit, GitHub processes technically necessary access data (IP address, time, file requested, browser identification) for delivery and operational security (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Data may be transferred to the USA; GitHub is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. We have no access to these logs. See GitHub’s Privacy Statement and the GitHub Pages terms.

App Store metrics

Downloads, purchases and optional crash reports are collected by Apple as part of the App Store. The developer only sees aggregated, non-personal figures in App Store Connect.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the rights of access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and objection (Art. 21), as well as the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (Art. 77). Since we store no personal data about your use of the app, in practice these rights can only relate to correspondence by email.

You delete your documents yourself: in the app or directly in the Files app. Deleting the app removes the locally stored data with it; files in iCloud Drive stay in your iCloud account until you delete them there.

Children

Scanloft is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes

As the app changes, this policy will be updated. The date above states the current version.
