In short
Your lists stay on your device. Häkchen sends nothing, loads nothing, has no account and no analytics. In normal use the app opens no network connection at all.

What happens on your device
- Lists, items and ticks live in a local database inside the app's own storage.
- Two trivia sit in the app's preferences: whether the sample list has already been created on first launch. Nothing else.
- This data is included in your iPhone backup if you make one. That backup is yours and lives wherever you put it.
- Delete the app and the lists go with it. Exported files stay until you remove them yourself.
Import and export
Text you paste or open is processed on the device only. The clipboard is read when you
tap “Paste from clipboard”, never on its own. An exported .haekchen or text
file goes exactly where you send it in the share sheet — from that point on, the privacy
policy of the destination applies rather than this one.
Suggestions are made on the device
When you ask for a list on a topic, Apple's on-device model writes it right on your iPhone. The topic you type is not transmitted, and the app opens no network connection for it. The feature needs Apple Intelligence; where that is unavailable, the feature simply is not there.
What does not happen
- No account, no sign-up, no server, no sync.
- No tracking, no advertising identifiers, no analytics, no crash reports to us.
- No sharing and no selling of data — there simply is none.
If you write to us
If you send an email, your address and the content of your message sit in the provider's mailbox. They are used to answer you (Art. 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR) and are not used for any other purpose.
External links
The app and this site link to Buy me a coffee and, later, to the App Store. Those are third-party services with their own privacy policies; nothing is opened until you tap the link.
This website
This site sets no cookies and embeds no analytics and no fonts from third-party servers. It is hosted on GitHub Pages, a service of GitHub, Inc., 88 Colin P. Kelly Jr. Street, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA. When the page is requested, GitHub processes technically necessary access data (IP address, time, file requested, browser identification) for delivery and operational security (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Data may be transferred to the USA; GitHub is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. We ourselves have no access to those logs. See GitHub's privacy statement and the terms for GitHub Pages.
App Store figures
Downloads, purchases and optional crash reports are collected by Apple as part of the App Store. The developer only sees aggregated, non-personal reports in App Store Connect.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to information (Art. 15), correction (Art. 16), deletion (Art. 17), restriction (Art. 18), portability (Art. 20) and objection (Art. 21), as well as the right to complain to a supervisory authority (Art. 77). Since we store no personal data about your use of the app, in practice these rights can only concern correspondence by email.
You delete your own data: individual lists with a swipe inside the app, everything at once by removing the app.
Children
Häkchen is not directed at children and knowingly collects no data from children.
Changes
If the app changes, this policy is updated. The date above gives the current version.
